Southern rap artist Kevin Gates, born Kevin Gilyard, Luca Brasi 3 Tour headed to Houston, Texas on October 5th featuring special guests OG Boobie Black and Yung Bleu.

Hundreds of concertgoers packed into Revention Music Center to watch the Baton Rouge native perform his first tour since his release from prison earlier this year. Kevin Gates’ release came with controversy as the Illinois Department of Corrections prevented him from leaving the state meaning the rapper could not return home to see his family or tour. In the meantime, Gates focused on his music addressing his prison time in his project Chained to the City that released in May and going on to release the mixtape, which served as the basis for his tour, Luca Brasi 3 in . With the controversy now behind him, Gates is back on tour and performing better than ever.

In a mirage of blue lights, Alabama native, Yung Bleu paced back and forth across performing his hits “Miss It,” “Unappreciated,” and “Ice On My Baby.” The lights turned to red as Bread Winners Association’s (BWA) OG Boobie Black made his way to the stage. Black addressed losing his arm and getting shot 21 times in his song “True Story.” He continued on to perform “That’s Crazy,” “Boss Mann,” and “Buku” before pausing to let booing fans know that even though the crowd wanted Kevin, they had to hear him first. Gates official DJ, DJ BWA Ron took a few minutes to get the crowd back in the mood before Kevin Gates emerged onto the stage in front of hundreds of cheering fans in a matching gray Champion sweatsuit. Gates energy was rampant as he fed off of the audience highlighting both newer and older hits. The rapper performed songs off of his newest projects including “Vouch,” “Great Man,” “Change Lanes,” “Me Too,” Money Long,” “ I Got U,” and “Adding Up.” Kevin even stopped to address the ladies in the building while performing song “D U Down” as thirsty fans shouted pick-up lines back at him. Gates made sure to catch his newer fans up to speed as he threw it back for his day ones with songs “One Thing,” “Don’t Know,” “Posed To Be In Love,” “Thinking With My Dick,” and “I Don’t Get Tired.” Whether you knew who Kevin Gates was when you walked in the door or not, you left a fan. After providing his fans with a memorable performance, Kevin prayed for their safety on their travels home.
