DMX celebrates the 20th year anniversary of his debut album, It’s Dark and Hell is Hot, by heading out on tour. The album released in 1998 and is a staple in the hip hop community as well as a major component to DMX’s catalogue. Hundreds packed into House of Blues in Houston, TX on April 24, 2019 for a chance to reminisce with the Ruff Ryder.

The night started slow as concertgoers waited eagerly for the hip hop legend to take the stage. A local DJ came out to spin some tunes as the wait began. Three hours in, the audience began to anxiously chant “DMX” and recreated his infamous bark. Just when they thought it was time for the legend, opener, 1 Shot Dealz took to the stage. After a brief set, the lights dimmed. Cheers, chants, and barking sounds erupted in the venue as DMX’s voice could be heard over the speakers. Attendees whipped out their cellphones as DMX made his way to the stage performing “Intro” from It’s Dark and Hell is Hot. “Intro” was followed by “We Right Here” and “Who We Be.” The night was rampant with nostalgia as DMX performed his hits including “One More Road to Cross,” “Get It on the Floor,” and “Get at Me Dog.Trae Tha Truth even made a special appearance performing his hit “Swang.” About mid-way through his set, DMX jumped on top of a speaker to perform street hymn, “Ruff Ryders’ Anthem,” as audience members belted the lyrics right alongside him.

The night continued with performances of “What’s My Name?,” “Money, Power, & Respect,” “What These Bitches Want,” and “Party Up (Up in Here).” Despite the wait, concertgoers seemed to leave in good spirits as they got to reminisce with a legend.
