Why Winter is the Best Time to Get Tattooed
Why Winter is the Best Time to Get Tattooed

Every year, it never fails to surprise me how slow tattoo shops get around the end of November. Sure, the holidays tend to mean blowing our budgets to buy gifts for others, but that doesn’t mean you should be cancelling your tattoo appointments! In fact, these colder months are the PERFECT time to get tattooed.
It’s easier to protect/heal your fresh tattoo
The worst part about getting tattooed in the summertime is that it can put a massive damper on your fun in the sun! Fresh tattoos need to stay out of direct sunlight and covered, so the colder winter temperatures make aftercare a breeze. Plus, no need to cancel any of your plans, unlike that time you had to opt out of a lake trip because of that 2 day old dreamcatcher on your thigh.
Artists have more availability
There’s a reason that the end of the year is known as cancellation season in tattoo shops. So many people end up having to back out of their appointments, that artists end up with plenty of gaps to fill in their schedules. If there’s an artist you’ve been dying to get in with, keep an eye on them from November through January for last-minute availability.
Sidenote: Tattooers have families too, so hey - stop cancelling on your artists in December so they can have a good holiday as well!
Tattoos make amazing holiday presents
Nothing says “I love you” like an appointment with their favorite artist! Some artists even do gift certificates around the holidays, making it easier than ever to gift new artwork to your loved ones. Real talk; I booked my brother with @JayJoree for his christmas present a few years ago, and he still tells people it’s the best gift he’s ever gotten.
